High- Waisted SwissDot Grid "Maria" Skirt

Inspired by Maria in the new "West Side Story" film, this high-waisted full skirt is a modern take on a 50's tea-length skirt. It is allover print-placed and fully lined in white poplin. The applique at the waist is hand-sewn and naturally no skirt made for the modern woman is complete without pockets! While not boned at the waist, heavy fusing helps support the shape.

Hand-Dyed Full-Coverage Bra and Panty Set

A dusty powder blue hand-dyed unlined full-coverage underwire bra and panty set. It has faux tuxedo-style covered buttons at the gore and double black straps. This project was started to promote female empowerment and body positivity. I plan to continue to perfect the fit for future development of bustiers and interior structures on eveningwear designs.

Reversible Corset

A fully reversible regency era inspired corset. Made with silk brocade on one side and corduroy on the other, this piece is the perfect day to evening transition piece. The binding on the neckline, armholes and hem are hand sewn and the corset contains stainless steel spiral boning within.

Indigo Roots: Senior Thesis

"Indigo Roots" is inspired by fashion revolutions, unconventionality, and turning traditional eveningwear motifs upside down. This hand-woven denim fringe cocktail dress comes with a separate ombre bleached and fringed capelet. The ensemble is made up of 3/4" strips of hand-bleached, hand-woven, and hand-sewn denim and is complete with hand-pleated sleeves. All seams match up and all raw denim was donated by ISKO denim adding to the garment's sustainable mission.

Denim Wedding Dress

Determined to find a way to break from the American bridal industry's taboos while keeping with traditions, I decided to design and create a dress that ticked all the boxes of any dress you would find in a bridal store with an unconventional twist. The stuff and rigid denim on the bodice, high-low peplum, collar, and cuffs provide a stark contrast to the fluidity of the glitter tulle sleeves and skirt. All smocking was sewn by hand and topped with delicate Swarovski crystals.

Jasmine: For Disney on Broadway

Seen on Good Morning America, these garments were created as a result to a contest Disney On Broadway held with the Fashion Institue of Technology. As a winner of the contest, I was selected to create the garments in my designs which were inspired by the female leading lady "Jasmine" from Disney's Broadway show "Aladdin". The day look is a velvet bralette with corduroy cargo harem shorts and a pullover cropped jacket with a hijab inspired gold polyester pleated hood, and matching sleeves inspired by Jasmine's hair. The evening look is an embroidered organdy caged corset with detached oversized sleeves and a sunburst pleated gold polyester skirt.

Chargeurs Wedding Dress Contest

With an attempt to re-define fashion, Chargeurs, a french company known for producing many things including interlining, reached out to the Fashion Institute of Technology to create wedding gowns designed primarily out of their sustainable interlinings. As a finalist in the competition, my objective was to utilize the sustainable lining provided to us in as many ways as possible. As part of my sustainable initiative, I used as many small businesses in New York as possible and even had flower shops around the city donate old flower cuttings to create my own natural dye for the dress petals. The bodice is also fully boned and the bodice back closure includes handmade covered buttons out of the outer fabric quality. This dress includes over 300 fabric flowers and over 1000 crystals that were all hand applied.

Soft Bra and Petticoat

This soft bra and petticoat combo was made with a delicate lavender scallop lace, black metallic bobbinette netting, and black illusion tulle. The petticoat is boned with stainless steel spiral boning, the bone channels and waistband are made from double faced black velvet, and the waist piece/skirt seam is trimmed in a handmade ruffle trim with hand-applied beads. The soft bra is lined in black illusion tulle and all crystals were hand applied as well.

Off-the-shoulder Ruched Body Suit

This body suit was created with the challenge to make a structured stretch textile to look fluid. All textiles on the garment are 4-way stretch including the ruched mesh tulle overlay. The base fabric was hand-dyed blue/grey, and the trim was applied with a 3-step machine.

Underwire Bra

This unlined underwire bra is complete with seamed cups to help with natural shape and includes an inner side sling for shape and support. It also has adjustable straps, an adjustable back clasp, and encased stainless steel spiral bones along the side seams. The feather crystal detailing on the front gore was all hand applied and scallop elastic trims and delicate embroidered lace complete this couture bra.

Corset

This corset was inspired by corsets from the 1740's.  It was made in coutil with side-by-side 3/8" boning and lined in Egyptian cotton. The sleeves can be worn up on the shoulder or styled off the shoulder. Both the front and back are laced with a separate boned stomacher piece.

Cowl Dress

This silk lavender cowl dress was hand draped, patterned, and sewn by me. All black crepe flowers with pearls were created and applied by hand. All seams and edges are Hong Kong bound with self bias.

Leather Laser Cut Hockey Wallet

Having never worked with leather or laser cutting before, I started this project creating a file on Illustrator that can be read on a laser cutting machine. I created this hockey stick print on Illustrator and then sewed, tied, and glued the pieces of the wallet together.
